For foreigners legally residing in Vietnam whose visa is about to expire and who wish to stay longer

Required Documents:
- Original passport and current visa, still valid at the time of application
- Form NA5 - application for visa / temporary residence extension
- Temporary residence registration confirmation from the local police, or via the online registration system
- Company-sponsored (DN/LD/DT visa): company legal documents, relevant work permit/investment certificate, and the company's digital signature USB token
- Individual-sponsored (TT visa): sponsor's ID card, proof of relationship (must be consular-legalized if issued abroad)
Process:
- The sponsor submits the application online via the Ministry of Public Security's Public Service Portal with a digital signature (mandatory from 2026)
- The original passport is submitted in person or by courier to the Immigration Department office (Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City)
- Pay the extension fee; results are returned 5 working days after the application and original passport are fully received
